Traveling edge states in massive Dirac equations along slowly varying edges

چکیده
Abstract Topologically protected wave motion has attracted considerable research interest due to its chirality and potential applications in many applied fields. We construct quasi-traveling solutions the 2D Dirac equation with a domain wall mass this work. It is known that system admits exact explicit traveling solutions, which are termed edge states if interface straight line. By modifying such we quasi-traveling-wave nearly straight. The approximate two scenarios given. One circular large radius, second line slowly varying along perpendicular direction. show valid long lifespan by energy estimates. Numerical simulations provided support our analysis both qualitatively quantitatively.

Spin Waves along the Edge States
Spin waves (SWs) have been studied experimentally and by simulations in 1000 nm side equilateral triangular Permalloy dots in the Buckle state (B, with in-plane ̄eld along the triangle base) and the Y state (Y, with in-plane ̄eld perpendicular to the base). The excess of exchange energy at the triangles edges creates channels that allow e®ective spin wave propagation along the edges in the B stat...
متن کاملDirac spectra and edge states in honeycomb plasmonic lattices.
We study theoretically the dispersion of plasmonic honeycomb lattices and find Dirac spectra for both dipole and quadrupole modes. Zigzag edge states derived from Dirac points are found in ribbons of these honeycomb plasmonic lattices. The zigzag edge states for out-of-plane dipole modes are closely analogous to the electronic ones in graphene nanoribbons. The edge states for in-plane dipole mo...

A real-valued function f of a real variable is said to be (p-slowly varying ((p-s .v.) if limn_ . rp (x) [ f (x + a) f (x)] = 0 for each a. It is said to be uniformly 9-slowly varying (u . (P-s .v .) if limn-. . sup, e r rp(x) ; f (x-a) f (x)I =0 for every bounded interval I. It is supposed throughout that rp is positive and increasing . It is proved that if w increases rapidly enough, then eve...
متن کاملBreakdown of the Slowly Varying Amplitude Approximation: Generation of Backward Traveling Second Harmonic Light
By numerically solving the nonlinear field equations, we simulate second-harmonic generation by laser pulses within a nonlinear medium without making the usual slowly-varying-amplitude approximation, an approximation which may fail when laser pulses of moderate intensity or ultrashort duration are used to drive a nonlinear process. Under these conditions we show that a backward-traveling, secon...
متن کاملOn Slowly Varying Stokes Waves
ON SLOWLY VARYING STOKES WAVES by VINCENT HWA-HING CHU In this thesis investigations are made on the theory of a train of slowly modulated gravity waves propagating over uneven bottom topography. The primary object is to study the interplay of amplitude dispersion the frequency dispersion in waves on the surface of water where the depth is not too shallow compared to a typical wave length. The ...
